Community Projects

Vipingo Ridge is committed to enriching the lives and livelihoods of members of the local community. To this end, we have undertaken and provided support to various community-based projects.

Future Hope Montessori School

Vipingo Ridge has partnered with Vipingo Village Fund, a UK registered charity that runs and operates Future Hope Montessori School - a facility for AIDS affected children from Vipingo and Bureni villages. During the year 2010, we aided the construction of additional classrooms hence ensuring that these bright minds realize their potential and fulfill their dreams.

Bureni Nursery School

Bureni Nursery School was initiated by the local area councilor as LATF (Local Authorities Transfer Fund) project. The funds were however not enough to enable the construction of sanitation facilities. Because the Public Health Act prohibits the running of such an establishment without sanitation facilities, the school could not be opened.  This need caught the attention of VR and we consequently undertook to construct two Eastern type toilet facilities by contracting local labor.

During the commissioning and hand-over ceremony for the sanitation facility, representatives from Vipingo Ridge also presented some much needed sitting benches for use in the pupils' classrooms.

Water Provision

The availability of clean and safe drinking water still remains a major challenge in most developing countries and especially more in Sub-Saharan Africa. Vipingo Ridge recognizes this challenge and we are fully committed to ensuring that the local community gets sustainable access to safe drinking water.  In line with this initiative, we have so far donated a water storage tank and also aided the construction of a concrete tank. We will continue to undertake similar projects in future with the support and goodwill of the local community.

Chodari Community Water Project

VR has embarked on a project to supply clean drinking water to the residents of Chodari village. It is our sincere hope that with the commissioning of this project, the community will be guaranteed a constant supply of water.
