  • Participants will be grouped into age categories to ensure fair competition.
Age categories will include: U13 (12- 8yrs) who can enter the 5km event, U18(13-17yrs) who can enter the 5km and 10km event, Elite (18-50yrs) and Veteran 50+ who can enter the 5km, 10km or 21km event.
When deciding on a category, this is the participants age on the day of the event.

  • U11 must be supervised by an adult on the route. Entry for U11 is at the organisers discretion at registration.

  • Participants must register in advance through the link and provide accurate personal information. False information may result in disqualification. Please arrive promptly at 08:15 to collect race plates.

  • All participants are required to attend a mandatory pre-race briefing to review rules, course details, and safety instructions. This starts promptly at 08:50.

  • Participants are responsible for being familiar with the race course. The course is marked with chalk, signage and some junctions will have marshals.

  • Should you require first aid please contact the medical Health professional on site. If required you will be transferred to Welfare Medical centre at Vipingo Ridge for further assessment and treatment at your own cost.

  • We are in a wildlife and residential sanctuary, please dispose of any litter or gear properly at designated collection points.

We make every effort to make this a plastic free event, please do bring water bottles to fill up should you need them on the route

Run Rules:

  • Course Markings: Follow chalk course markings and directions from race officials and marshals. Do not follow instructions from any spectator.

  • No Unauthorised Accompaniment: Runners may not be accompanied by individuals not participating in the event unless they are U11 when it is a safety requirement.

  • Check points: There will be check points on the runs. To help us with timings we will require you to show us your check point markings at the end of the event.

  • Stay to the left and Pass on the right. Sounds simple, right? If you are racing, you must yield (to the left) to others wishing to pass (on the right), not everyone using the trails will be aware of this trail etiquette, so remember to be alert and polite.

  • Call Out When Passing. Let the person(s) you are about to pass know that you are approaching and intending to pass them. This will allow them to yield and you to pass in a safe manner.

  • Race Bib Numbers must be visible on your front. We record bib numbers at various points on the course and if we can’t see your number, it’s like you were never there.

  • Carry fuel and hydration. We have aid stations, however, the aid stations can be far apart. Also, you never know what the day will bring, and you may find you need fuel and hydration between aid stations.

  • Only One Earbud. We prefer you listen to the melodious bird song, however, if you must listen to something else, please only wear your left earbud and keep the volume low.

Penalties:

  • Rule violations will result in penalties or disqualification, depending on the severity and repetition of the violation.

  • Penalties will be applied at the discretion of race officials and judges.

  • Collection of check point markings is essential for each individual.

Spectators: Enjoy your morning at the sundowner with tea, coffee and Mandazi’s available from 08:00 to fuel your cheerleading efforts. Lunch will be available to order from 11:00.

We’re also planning a further duathlon later in 2024 so if you’d like to be alerted - please contact our events team to join the mailing list.
