Golf excellence: Kenya's first high performance golf camp

Kenya golf talent at the High Performance Camp

In an historic move, Kenya recently hosted its inaugural Golf High Performance Program, a three-day residential event that teed off in Thika Greens in Nairobi earlier this month.

The program’s primary goal is to nurture aspiring golfers to an elite level under the guidance of high-performance coaches.

Kenya’s top golf talent

The program was delivered by six coaches from Africa High Performance and who trained twelve players, handpicked from various golfing associations, including the Kenya Golf Union, Kenya Ladies Golf Union, Professional Golfers of Kenya, and the Junior Golf Foundation.

All participants were under the age of 24—seven incredible young women and five promising young men, all eager to become elite golfing superstars.

Golf excellence

The training regime focused on every aspect of golf, each day with a difference focus. The individual and group session included swing techniques, mastering the long game and sharpening skills in the short game. This comprehensive approach ensures that the athletes have a well-rounded foundation upon which to build their golfing careers.

Supporting Kenya’s top golfing talent

Vipingo Ridge-sponsored golfer, Naomi Wafula attended the training program, where she learned new skills, from new grips for her long game and open up on her chipping game. Quoting Naomi on how she found the experience: “It was awesome. I had some changes in each part of my game, and I will keep in touch with Coach Paul online.”

The ground breaking camp was covered by the national media. This was another fantastic opportunity for Naomi, and she continues to make the most of the experience including the media side of elite sport.

The investment into this golf program is a testament to Kenya’s dedication to sporting achievement.

By enhancing the coaching capabilities for golfers nationwide, this program has the potential to help a growing number of young golfers, take their first swing towards a brighter future in golf.
