Momentous launch of the Kilifi Innovation Business Summit

Vipingo Ridge is proud to be a part of the Kilifi County business community.

As an organization we are passionate about the part we play in the local community, through both business partnerships and also creating employment and personal development opportunities for Kilifi County.

When we were asked to participate in the launch of an exciting new initiative for our community, we were delighted to act as both host venue and partner of the event.

The Kilifi Innovation Business Summit

On the 27th and 28th October 2023 an exhibition will take place at Mazingira Park, Kilifi Town.

This event is ground breaking in many ways. It brings a focus on empowering the youth of Kilifi, alongside an agenda of entrepreneurship, business networking, knowledge sharing, innovation and investment in the Kilifi region.

Kilifi Youth led projects

This programme extends beyond the Summit, with an inspiring approach from His Excellency, Governor Gideon Maitha Mung'aro and the County Government. They are engaging the community and giving opportunities to talented individuals, teams and Community Based Organisations (CBOs).

One such organisation is Able Dreams.

This Kilifi CBO is led by an inspiring Chairman, Isaac Mwabonje.

He and his team were empowered to arrange the launch event for the Summit alongside the County Government teams, partnering with Vipingo Ridge to bring the vision of the event to life.

Able Dreams Community is a CBO established to empower youth and people with disabilities (PWDs). The administration of H.E Gideon Maitha Mung'aro is working to change the narrative and engaging Able Dreams Community and their #ExponentialPotential

‘A momentous occasion’

For the launch event held at Vipingo Ridge, the Able Dreams team engaged our venue to host their informal networking event.

We had the perfect space, our more casual Sundowner bar to host their guests. This is a large vaulted space on two connected levels, creating the opportunity for networking and connecting, as well as a great position for the speeches.

The delegates were an engaged and motivated group ranging from International Embassy representatives to local Kilifi entrepreneurs to supportive local corporate businesses.

We had a number of members of the Kilifi Government team join the event, supporting this new launch initiative and the Able Dreams team. We were also honoured to witness His Excellency, Governor Gideon Maitha Mung'aro giving his remarks, and officially open the Kilifi Innovation Business Summit.

Commenting after the launch event:

“It was a momentous occasion as I launched the Kilifi Innovation Business Summit at Vipingo Ridge.

This will give a platform to the Kilifi County youths to showcase their ability and prowess in innovation for sustainable growth. We are keen on nurturing a culture of innovation to accelerate economic growth in Kilifi County.

Innovation has the power to catalyse productivity, generate gainful employment, and create wealth for the people of Kilifi County. As a county, we will partner with stakeholders to create platforms that will foster innovations, promote start-ups, strengthen research, and propel the uptake of emerging technologies.

Join me for the main event on October 27th–28th, 2023, at Mazingira Park Kilifi.”

Inspiring Entrepreneurs in Kilifi

The launch event was filled with engaged networkers, making connections and greeting long standing partners. Beyond the networking opportunity our attendees were also treated to a series of speakers.

One group of presenters, in innovative style, were welcomed to the stage to deliver ‘elevator pitches’ of their companies and products. These short and snappy presentation were diverse and inspiring, showing the real scope of what innovation can be.

We’ll be introducing more on these ground breaking and inspiring stories soon.
