Naomi Wafula strong golf season continues
The number one ladies amateur golfer in Kenya, Naomi, counts Vipingo Ridge as her home club. She lives and works in Vipingo while pursuing her inspiring journey as a competitive golfer.
At the start of 2025 Naomi announced her plans for the year, setting out clear goals and tournaments in her schedule. She is still open for support and sponsors, notably she has recently become a brand ambassador for golf clothing brand Kandy Golf. Naomi has over 10,000 engaged followers on instagram and is a credit to all partners she works with.

Here we take a look at her recent results:
1. TransNzoia Open – Kitale Club (April 25–27, 2025)
In a field dominated by elite male golfers, Naom stood out as the only female golfer to make the cut, finishing tied 15th overall in this Kenya Golf Union (KGU) sanctioned event. In order to gain points and her rankings in golf, Naomi needs to compete in the men’s competitions.
2. Kenya Ladies Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship – Sigona Golf Club (2nd–4th May 2025)
This regional championship brought together top female amateurs from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania. Naomi’s precision and composure earned her a 2nd-place finish, solidifying her reputation as one of East Africa’s golf stars.
3. NCBA Kiambu Open – Kiambu Golf Club (9th–11th May 2025)
Competing alongside elite male golfers, Naomi maintained stellar form throughout the tournament, clinching a tied 3rd-place finish. Her ability to thrive in mixed-gender competitions highlights her versatility and competitive edge.
Giving Back through Coaching
Beyond competitions, Naomi continues to leave a mark to the community. She is an advocate for junior golf, and a qualified US Kids Coach. In between competition’s Naomi plays a key role in the Vipingo Ridge programmes to introduce golf to a wide audience and grow the game.
Naomi is directly involved in coaching and community outreach initiatives at Vipingo Ridge. While Naomi’s tournament achievements shine brightly, her commitment to promoting golf at the grassroots level is equally impactful.
Women’s Beginner Golf Lessons
Every Tuesday at 10:00 AM, Naomi’s leads Women’s Beginner Lessons at Vipingo Ridge. These sessions provide a supportive environment for women to learn the fundamentals of golf, breaking down barriers in a sport traditionally perceived as exclusive and predominantly taken to be a male sport.
Vipingo Ridge Members and Resort Guests can join this activity at no fee each week.
Junior Coaching for Community Schools
With schools back in session, Naomi has resumed Junior Coaching for four local community schools every Tuesday at 4:00 PM. These sessions go beyond swing techniques:
Instilling discipline, focus, and sportsmanship in young learners.
Sparking a growing passion for golf among children, many of whom are discovering the sport for the first time.
Encouraging children to be confident and independent, experiencing the PGA Academy and raising their ambitions.
