Proud to Support Fundraising for Local School

Vipingo Ridge was founded on the commitment to the community we joined, to enrich the lives of our neighbours and the wider Kilifi stakeholders. We are proud to have many initiatives in place to work with the local village leadership, the Kilifi County Government and community organisations.

As a lead employer in the region, as well as a sports tourism and conference venue, we take our responsibility and the opportunity seriously. We encourage our network, including Vipingo Ridge members and homeowners, to also engage where they can with the community and support the development of the wider Kenya coast region.

It is with this mindset, that we are supporting the Safari around the world in 80 minutes - a family fun treasure hunt on Saturday 11th May 2024 taking place at Vipingo Ridge. An enthusiastic group of homeowners and their friends are collaborating with Vipingo Ridge to help their fundraising drive that is focussed on generating funds for local school, Gongoni Primary.

High impact from the start

This fundraising group formed in 2023, with the aim of making a difference directly to the lives of local people. They have been highly motivated and successful in other projects so far.

Projects included a shoe drive in April 2023, resulting 600 pairs of shoes being donated to local children. In October 2023 they were able to donate backpacks, water bottles and provide a hot meal to the children.

Both of these donation days benefitted Mitangoni Primary in Kilifi, the focus of their support in 2023.

Exploring Vipingo and beyond

In 2024 inspiration struck in unlikely circumstances. As members of the Vipingo Ridge social cycling club, our cyclists are often exploring the trails in and around Vipingo Ridge. One of the highlights of the routes around Vipingo (as well as the terrain) is the local community surrounding Vipingo Ridge. Always welcoming and with a ready smile, Vipingo Ridge collaborates with the local community often and have great relationships.

One of the schools in proximity to Vipingo Ridge is Gongoni. Gongoni has two schools, a Primary School and Secondary School. Dushyant, one of the lead members of the fundraising group was inspired by the interactions with students in Gongoni and was able to connect with the teachers at the school to understand more about their leadership and their needs. Impressed by the Headmaster and team, Gongoni Primary School has become the focus for the latest fundraising efforts.

11th May Donation Day

The team has big ambitions for their next donations on Saturday, May 11th

They have been consulting with the staff at Gongoni Primary and are hoping to donate 470 children backpacks, water bottles, and hopefully a pencil case and lunch. As well as these individual donations there have been fruitful discussions about a water solution and the preference is for 5,000 litre water storage tanks. All of these ambitious targets need our help.

Please support the efforts by joining the latest fundraising event, the family treasure hunt. which will be held on the afternoon of 11th May 2024. Your advance entry fee proceeds will help the team achieve their fundraising target. All the details are available on the events page:
