Vipingo Ridge Triathlon: Popular Kilifi coastal event in pictures

The Vipingo Ridge Beach Club has been a hub of activity this festive season, every day friends, families and neighbours have gathered for great food, company and of course the idyllic water front setting.

Vipingo Ridge Triathlon, Kilifi

A regular sports event on the calendar, this occasion attracts a variety of entrants; from Kenyan athletes, local Vipingo residents to holiday-makers staying in our villas and private homes. We had a fantastic turn out for the event with our veterans, U13, U18, Men’s and Ladies, individual and team, categories all well subscribed.

Thank you to all of our competitors, spectators, marshalls and organisers. Take a look at a few of the pictures from a wonderful family sports day:

Fundraising and Prize Giving

We were fundraising for our partners Oceans Alive Trust with a raffle. Our competitors and guests were very generous. We also thank our partners for their generous donations to the prizes available.

We were honoured to welcome Jonathan Mueke from the Ministry of Agriculture, PS Livestock who attended the event and honoured us by officiating the prizes.

Access to sport: Team Health and Wellbeing

This year there was particularly special entry in the Triathlon, as Vipingo Ridge sponsored the entry of two teams from the Vipingo Ridge workforce. This activity is part of the program of health and wellbeing for the team that has been underway in recent months. 85% of the Vipingo Ridge team is from our local community and we have collaborating with our team leaders to support and engage our team in new ways.

In recent weeks we have conducted complimentary dentistry checks and eye tests for the team on a walk in basis, working with local partners to offer health care access to our team.

The opportunity to enter for the triathlon teams was well received by the whole team. During the recent sports trials for swimming, cycling and running, there was a fantastic atmosphere and camaraderie.

The subsequent early morning training sessions with one of our homeowners (using the Vipingo Ridge bicycles and pool) have paid off - one of the teams came in third place. A proud moment for all involved. The teams were a blend of our Front of House, Infrastructure, Security and Wildlife teams.

Sport truly does bring people together.
