Green season in full swing: May Golf
May has been an exhilarating month at Vipingo Ridge, full of closely contested leader boards, transitioning weather, and standout performances across all levels of the game.
While the month brought a distinctly chilly breeze especially as we moved towards the tail end of May the action on the PGA Baobab Course remained as hot as ever. This month’s Mug and Medal went ahead with a prizegiving at the Beach Club, followed by the Champions League viewing party. We hosted the first new KC Golf Tour - a new junior golf competition.
Here is a look back at the results and a month of golf that stretched from our dedicated caddies to the next generation of golfing talent.
1st May - Labour Day 3 Club and a Putter
We kicked off the month with the always-entertaining 3 Club and a Putter competition.
Forcing players to be strategic with a limited selection of tools, it was a fantastic day on the course. A huge thank you to everyone who supported the competition and joined us for the prize-giving ceremony, which included a great brunch poolside.
6th May - Clubnite Results
Our mid-week tradition continued to bring out excellent friendly rivalry.
Winner: Andrew Ritchie (22 points)
Runner-up: Joe Carvalho (15 points)
13th May - Clubnite Results
A thrilling, razor-thin finish defined this Clubnite, with the top spots decided entirely on a countback.
Winner: Beth Rune (20 points c/b)
Runner-up: Kiragu Gichuri (20 points c/b)
20th May - Clubnite Results
The competitive streak continued into late May, with another countback determining our podium order, once again Joe was in the mix.
Winner: Joe Carvalho (16 points c/b)
Runner-up: Tim Williams (16 points c/b)
26th May - Caddies Competition Results
One of the month's absolute highlights was the Caddies Competition. Our team took to the fairways and put on a masterclass in scoring. We extend a massive thank you to Hanif Walli for generously sponsoring this fantastic event.
Overall Winner: Gilbert Mwavita (67 Nett)
Runner-up: Mary Mwatu (71 Nett)
Third Place: Elson Nyinge (72 Nett)
27th May - Clubnite Results
The final Clubnite of May saw a fantastic turnout, including some excellent performances from our guests.
Winner: Anthony Denton (18 points)
Runner-up: Anthony Howie (15 points c/b)
Best Guest: Mike Nixon (17 points)
30th May - Monthly Mug and Medal & Round Robin Finale
Bringing the month to a grand conclusion, the monthly Mug and Medal went ahead on Saturday the 30th.
It was a momentous day of golf that culminated in an evening prize-giving at the Beach Club, where our monthly winners were celebrated and the prestigious season-long Round Robin champion was officially crowned against the beautiful backdrop of the Indian Ocean.

KC Juniors Golf Series Vipingo – 31st May
We closed out May by looking to the future of the sport, hosting the KC Juniors Golf Series. It was inspiring to see the dedication, sportsmanship, and talent on display from these young golfers.
