Fifty Runners join the August Trail Run

We were joined by over 50 runners for our August Trail Run, the second of the year at Vipingo Ridge. Cloudy skies made for great conditions as the runners took on the trails over the three distances: 5KM, 10KM and 21KM.

We had a great turn out from the Kids age group this school holiday with great performances from the under 13s in boys and girls running the 5KM route.

There was also strong representation from the Elites in the 5KM and the 10KM races with some very close competition for the podiums.

On Saturday 15th August, the trails of Vipingo Ridge once again came alive with energy, determination and a shared love for the outdoors as runners gathered for the latest edition of the Vipingo Ridge Trail Run.

Following the previous Trail Run held in June, this event marked the final trail run in the current series, bringing together an enthusiastic community of runners ready to take on the challenge of the course. With 50 entries across the 5km, 10km and 21km distances, the morning was filled with excitement from the moment the first runners set off.

Participants of all fitness levels took to the trails, each embracing the challenge at their own pace. From experienced runners tackling the demanding 21km route to those enjoying the shorter 5km and 10km distances, the event offered something for everyone. The varied terrain, natural surroundings and scenic landscapes of Vipingo Ridge provided the perfect setting for an unforgettable morning of sport and adventure.

Beyond the competition, the Trail Run was a celebration of community and an active lifestyle. Runners encouraged one another along the route, while the atmosphere at the finish line reflected the sense of achievement that comes with completing a personal challenge. Whether chasing a personal best, preparing for a longer race or simply enjoying time outdoors, every participant contributed to the vibrant spirit of the event.

All participants received medals and certificates in recognition of their achievement, providing a fitting reward for the effort and determination shown throughout the morning.

The strong turnout of more than 50 entries demonstrated the growing enthusiasm for trail running at Vipingo Ridge. Each edition continues to bring together a diverse community united by a passion for fitness, adventure and the great outdoors.

As we wrap up this chapter of the Vipingo Ridge Trail Run series, we extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who participated, supported and contributed to making the event a success. The energy witnessed was a reminder of the power of sport to bring people together and create memorable experiences.

While this may have been the final Trail Run we have the Duathlon in October and the Triathlon in December, where individuals and teams can enter, and the spirit of adventure remains firmly alive at Vipingo Ridge. We look forward to welcoming runners back to the trails for even more exciting sporting experiences in the future.

If you cycle - this weekend Vipingo Ridge is the venue for the largest Kenya Coastal cycling event: the Loop Safari Gravel Series. See you there!
