Launching the 2026 Uganda–Kenya Coast Tourism Programme
The countdown to the 2026 Uganda–Kenya Coast Tourism Programme is officially on. This week, the Uganda Consulate General in Mombasa and the Uganda-Kenya Coast Committee gathered at Wapa Hall, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala, for the media launch of the 5th Uganda-Kenya Coast Tourism & Innovation Summit and Vipingo Ridge was in the room to represent the Kenya coast's hospitality sector, with our Club and Sales Manager Maureen Obunga attending.
A Landmark in East African Tourism Diplomacy
Driven by the Uganda Consulate General in Mombasa and key regional stakeholders, the initiative is being billed as a major milestone in East African economic and commercial diplomacy, pairing Uganda's wildlife safaris and primate trekking with Kenya's coastal beaches and marine tourism to present the region as one seamless destination rather than two competing markets.
This year's theme, "Unlocking Tourism Opportunities: Resolving Policy Bottlenecks Through Technology, Youth, and Seamless Mobility Across East Africa," signals a shift from casual networking toward a structured business-to-business platform focused on trade distribution, cross-border infrastructure, and tech innovation. Youth-led digital tourism ventures including apps like Roam Uganda will headline the innovation strand, alongside emerging regional start-ups reshaping how travellers plan and book across borders.
The main summit itself will run from 26–27 October 2026 at the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa, Mombasa, with registration open via the official Uganda-Kenya Coast Tourism Summit portal.
