Ladies Coast Open Leads a Vibrant August Golf Calendar
August proved to be an exceptionally busy month on the PGA Baobab Course, highlighted by the prestigious Ladies Coast Open and a full calendar of weekly competitions. From spectacular hole-in-ones to the next generation of talent shining at the KC Junior Series, the competitive energy at Vipingo Ridge reached new heights.
We celebrate all those who participated and joined us for another memorable month of golf. Let’s take a look at the highlights and celebrate the winners.
Ladies Coast Open 2026
4th August
The sun rose over Vipingo Ridge for a truly memorable day for women's golf on the Kenyan coast. As the second leg of the week-long 2026 Ladies Coast Open, the event drew 118 golfers from across East Africa to our challenging par-72 course. The competition was fierce, with two spectacularhole-in-ones adding to the drama – Jane Munyi on the 4th hole and Monica Wairigu on the 17th.
Overall Winner: Mukami Wangai (Limuru Country Club) – 81 Gross (c/b)
Gross Division A Winner: Doris Mideva – 81 Gross
Net Division A Winner: Beth Rune (Vipingo Ridge) – 69 Nett
Gross Division B Winner: Linda Munyao – 95 Gross (c/b)

We kicked off the month's Clubnites with a tight finish, decided on a countback with Golf Committee Member Ants Howie taking the win.

Young talent took centre stage as the KC Junior Golf Series returned to Vipingo Ridge. The youngsters impressed with their skill and sportsmanship, showcasing the bright future of golf in the region.

Our caddies demonstrated their exceptional knowledge of the Baobab Course with impressive scoring. A special thank you to Torben Rune and Elizabeth Rune for sponsoring this competition.

The monthly Mug and Medal competition delivered excellent performances to close out the month's major events. With over 60 players in the event, with visitors from Sigona as part of the annual Captain’s trip to Vipingo Ridge, it was a great turnout.

Looking Ahead
August proved to be one of the busiest and most memorable months of the year, with the success of the Ladies Coast Open highlighting the growing stature of women's golf and the depth of talent within Kenyan ladies golf. As we move into September, we look forward to more competitive play and welcoming both familiar faces and guests back to the PGA Baobab Course.
Upcoming Golf Events:
We welcome a special group of guests for a competition led by the Commander of the Kenya Navy at the PGA Baobab Course.
We have a golf retreat for 20 international guests using a number of our different events spaces over 3 days in September.
More details to be released soon on this private competition of 40 golfers from South Africa.
Each month our Members and Guests gather to compete for the Mug and Medal. This is a morning competition with lunchtime presentation.
Play our mid-month competition - a team event to support Kenya tree planting: Greensomes. A fun morning competition with curry lunch at the Pool Gardens.
We welcome back the YEN - Young Entrepreneurs Network - for their Golf Competition at the PGA Baobab Course.
We have a golf retreat for 8 international guests using a number of our different events spaces over 4 days in October.
Year of Return to Africa (YORA) are back at the Ridge, and this time we welcome them for a golf competition.
This Mashujaa day we have a new competition in the fun format Florida Scramble. Join us at the PGA Baobab Course for a great public holiday event.
We have a golf group of 60 from Zimbabwe using a number of our different events spaces over 5 days in October.
Entries are opening soon for the Uganda-Kenya Coast Open. Sign up to join the Kenya Coast Team or Team Uganda. Stableford 18-hole competition and prizegiving at the Vipingo Ridge.
We have a golf retreat for 14 international golfers using a number of our different events spaces over 4 days in late October.
Each month our Members and Guests gather to compete for the Mug and Medal. This is a afternoon competition with evening presentation.
The Vipingo Ridge Ryder Cup. A 3-day competition on 13th, 14th, 15th November, Kenyans v The Rest of the World. After the Rest of the World won in 2023 the Kenyans won in 2024 and 2025 - 2026 will be an exciting fourth round.
Vipingo Ridge PGA Baobab Course hosts the finale event of the US Kids Coastal Local Golf Tour.
