Ladies Coast Open Leads a Vibrant August Golf Calendar

August proved to be an exceptionally busy month on the PGA Baobab Course, highlighted by the prestigious Ladies Coast Open and a full calendar of weekly competitions. From spectacular hole-in-ones to the next generation of talent shining at the KC Junior Series, the competitive energy at Vipingo Ridge reached new heights.

We celebrate all those who participated and joined us for another memorable month of golf. Let’s take a look at the highlights and celebrate the winners.


Ladies Coast Open 2026

4th August

The sun rose over Vipingo Ridge for a truly memorable day for women's golf on the Kenyan coast. As the second leg of the week-long 2026 Ladies Coast Open, the event drew 118 golfers from across East Africa to our challenging par-72 course. The competition was fierce, with two spectacularhole-in-ones adding to the drama – Jane Munyi on the 4th hole and Monica Wairigu on the 17th.

  • Overall Winner: Mukami Wangai (Limuru Country Club) – 81 Gross (c/b)

  • Gross Division A Winner: Doris Mideva – 81 Gross

  • Net Division A Winner: Beth Rune (Vipingo Ridge) – 69 Nett

  • Gross Division B Winner: Linda Munyao – 95 Gross (c/b)

  • Net Division B Winner: Regina Kaveke – 72 Nett

Clubnite

5th August 2026

We kicked off the month's Clubnites with a tight finish, decided on a countback with Golf Committee Member Ants Howie taking the win.

  • Winner: Anthony Howie (19 points c/b)

  • Runner up: Joe Carvalho (19 points)

  • Best Guest: Genie Owiti (16 points)

12th August 2026

The second Clubnite of the month saw Rose Musau claim a commanding victory.

19th August 2026

Mid-month brought another competitive outing, with Anthony Denton posting the highest Clubnite score of the month.

  • Winner: Anthony Denton (22 points)

  • Runner up: Chris Everard (20 points)


KC Junior Series

23rd August 2026

Young talent took centre stage as the KC Junior Golf Series returned to Vipingo Ridge. The youngsters impressed with their skill and sportsmanship, showcasing the bright future of golf in the region. 


Caddies Competition

25th August 2026

Our caddies demonstrated their exceptional knowledge of the Baobab Course with impressive scoring. A special thank you to Torben Rune and Elizabeth Rune for sponsoring this competition.

  • Overall Winner: Michael Ziro (66 Nett)

  • Runner Up: Mamweru Dona (69 Nett)

  • Third: Gilbert Mwavita (71 Nett c/b)

  • Best Lady: Hellen Jilani (71 Nett)


Clubnite

26th August 2026

The final Clubnite of the month saw Giancarlo Bonanno take the top spot.

  • Winner: Giancarlo Bonanno (19 points)

  • Runner up: Chris Everard (16 points)

  • Best Guest: Andrew Jones (12 points)


Mug & Medal Results

29th August 2026

The monthly Mug and Medal competition delivered excellent performances to close out the month's major events. With over 60 players in the event, with visitors from Sigona as part of the annual Captain’s trip to Vipingo Ridge, it was a great turnout.

  • Mug Winner: Anthony Denton (69 Nett)

  • Medal Winner: Lilian Onduko (73 Nett)

  • Guest Winner: Michael Nimoh (71 Nett c/b)

  • Guest Runners Up: Sandeep Acharia (71 Nett c/b)


Looking Ahead

August proved to be one of the busiest and most memorable months of the year, with the success of the Ladies Coast Open highlighting the growing stature of women's golf and the depth of talent within Kenyan ladies golf. As we move into September, we look forward to more competitive play and welcoming both familiar faces and guests back to the PGA Baobab Course.
