Great success at the inaugural Muema Challenge Vipingo Edition

It began as an incredible 40th birthday surprise organised by a gentleman named Muema, with a couple of friends joining a private party 8 years ago. The event went so well, and the word spread, so that when 41 came around, people were asking where their invitation was. The rest is history.

Today the Muema Challenge is in it's eighth year, attracting over 150 golfers to each tournament. For the tenure the event has been hosted by our friends at the Great Rift Valley Lodge & Golf Resort, with golfers from across the country, particularly Nairobi joining Muema for a fun filled tournament weekend.

Muema heads to the Coast

We’re really excited that this year Muema has expanded the Challenge dates to offer an additional coastal tournament: Muema Challenge Vipingo Edition.

This Friday , Saturday and Sunday 80 golfers participated in a great weekend programme arranged by the Muema team. Many guests arrived by our private airstrip on our daily flights from Wilson Airport, Nairobi on our partner airline FlyALS, visiting Vipingo Ridge for the first time. We also welcomed players from golf clubs in Uganda and Rwanda coming to play the PGA Baobab Course, and of course many of our own members and home owners participated.

High energy experiences

The event began with an exclusive cocktail reception at our Clubhouse Rooftop, and while some golfers had taken a practice round on Friday to be prepared for the main competition, Muema and Johnny Walker team from sponsor East African Breweries Limited did their best to make sure the Saturday tournament was a challenge (it’s in the name after all!).

Golf began promptly at 8am and the rain the prior day created great conditions for the game. Here are a couple of photos of the day.

Attendees from the event, please contact the Muema Events team for the full event image library.

White themed gala dinner

Our guests joined us at the Sundowner bar for their prize giving event. Dress code was ‘wear white’ and the guests did not disappoint. The presentations were filled with fun and our (stand in) Vipingo Ridge Club Captain Rose was delighted to support proceedings.

Everyone was in high spirits for the main evening event. There were many prizes to take home and stories to tell from the day. Susi Ngugiof of Muthiaga Golf Club in Nairobi was the overall winner shown here receiving her prize from the man himself, Muema.

The weekend wrapped with an optional trip to the Beach Club for the ‘survivors’ to experience our white sands, a cocktail and the breeze before heading home.

We thank Muema and the whole team for a fantastic weekend of fun. The next Muema Challenge is on 9th December at the Great Rift Valley Lodge & Golf Resort.
