Thrilling October Golf Highlights at the PGA Baobab Course

October delivered another thrilling chapter of golf at the PGA Baobab Course, with strong turnouts, impressive scoring, and memorable victories across weekly Clubnites, Friday Roll-Ups, and a special highlight of the Kilifi–Uganda Open.

From seasoned players to enthusiastic guests, the spirit of competition and camaraderie shone brightly throughout the month.

1st October – Clubnite

The month teed off with an exciting Clubnite full of impressive rounds and tight finishes: Winner: Tim Williams, Runner-Up: Anthony Howie Tim was back on form and winning after a quiet September. Club Captain Les Baillie presenting the prizes at the Pool Gardens.


3rd October – Friday Roll-Up

A fantastic turnout saw plenty of competitive golf, but one player stood above the rest as a former Captain was the Winner: Sue Williams with 22 points. Her steady round secured a confident victory. Presented with her prize by Golf Club Committee Member Ants Howie.


8th October – Clubnite

Another dominant performance saw a familiar names back on top: Winner: Tim Williams, Runner-Up: Anthony Howie

Consistency paid off again for Tim, who claimed his second Clubnite victory in October.


10th October – Mid-month Greensomes

One of the months most exciting competitions, the Greensome format brought out teamwork, strategy, and great scoring with a twist. The prizes were native trees and Vipingo Ridge members recognised Mazingira Day in style.

● Winners: Al Noor Dhanji & Christine Dhanji – 41 points

● Runners-Up: Chris Everard & Fernando Marques – 36 points

● Best Guests: Alessandro Trentavizi & Francesca Biancacci

The Dhanjis delivered an exceptional round to claim the title, with trees presented by Captain Les Baillie.


15th October – Clubnite

Another Wednesday evening of spirited golf closed with:

● Winner: Tim Williams

● Runners-Up: Chris Everard

● Guest Winner: Stewart Angell

Tim once again showed remarkable form, claiming his third Clubnite victory of the month.


17th October – Friday Roll-Up

● Winner: Adil Suleman

Adil’s accuracy and course management earned him a well-deserved win.


22nd October – Clubnite

● Winner: Nick Walters

● Runners-Up: Beth Rune

With solid scoring and consistency, Nick secured his first Clubnite win of the month. Club Committee Member Sue Williamson presented the prizes.


25th October – Kilifi–Uganda Open

The highlight event of the month brought outstanding scores and powerful performances.

● Overall Champion: Simon Maina – 43 points

● Men’s Winner: Jabess Odour – 41 points

● Ladies Winner: Eva Kariuki – 38 points

● Longest Drive (Men): Tom Chirchir

● Longest Drive (Ladies): Prisca Jebet

It was a spectacular competition, celebrating skill, long drives and with some fantastic prizes. From the Vipingo Ridge Members, former Captain Richard Frost won best senior, and our Captain Les Baillie one of the best 9s of the competition. Team Uganda ultimately claimed victory in this fun competition

29th October – Clubnite

A strong field closed the month with another competitive evening. Thank you to all golfers who supported the event and attended the prize giving. Club Committee Member and winner, Ants Howie pictured with the runner up:

31st October - Friday Roll up

The final roll up of the month also marked the official reopening of the bar at the Clubhouse, the new 19th Hole.

Looking Ahead

October a mixed month, with the highs of the Kilifi Uganda Open, and a lot of rain (which is of course great for the golf course) towards the end of the month. Vipingo Ridge congratulates every winner, runner-up, and guest, your spirit and sportsmanship keep the PGA Baobab Course thriving.
