International Women’s Day: Give to Gain

At Vipingo Ridge, we believe that true luxury isn’t just about world-class amenities; it’s about building a world-class community.

This sentiment was never more alive than on Saturday, 7th March, when our Conference Hall buzzed with energy, inspiration, and sisterhood.

In partnership with Diamond Trust Bank and Madison Insurance Company, we had the distinct honor of hosting a spectacular event to mark International Women’s Day. Bringing together corporate leaders, public servants, local heroes, and the next generation of change-makers, the day was a profound reminder that when we "Give to Gain," we all rise together.

This was our third annual team focused celebration of International Women’s Day, here is a look back at a morning of powerful stories, key insights, and community connection.

Setting the Stage for Connection

One of our Senior Mangement Team, Esther (Head of Support Services at Vipingo Ridge) welcoming our guests. Her opening remarks set a tone of warmth and intentionality, reminding us that we were there not just to observe the day, but to actively participate in lifting each other up.

She welcomed everyone from senior executives to students from the local Tewa Training Center emphasizing that this was a safe space for sharing, learning, and growing.

In the interests of personal growth, our Masters of Ceremony ‘MC’s’ were from the team. Stepping out of their comfort zones and leading the event Sheila, Chizi, and Mohammed led powerfully, with energy that was infectious and they kept the program flowing seamlessly from one inspiring moment to the next.

A Panel That Spoke Truth

The highlight of the morning was undoubtedly the panel discussion. In a world often saturated with highlight reels, we wanted to hear the real stories the struggles, the pivots, and the victories.

Moderated with grace by more members of the Vipingo Ridge team, Christine and Zaneta, the panel brought together an incredible mix of voices, proving that leadership comes in many forms:

  • Joyce Iha (Assistant County Commissioner, Mtwapa) spoke on the weight of public service and how to balance work and personal life.

  • Salome Tangai (Chief, Junju Location) shared insights on grassroots leadership and solving community challenges.

  • Faith Timothy (Vocational Teacher, Tewa Training Center) highlighted the joy of empowering young women through skills development.

  • Elizabeth Oyengo (Housekeeping Executive, Vipingo Ridge) gave a moving account of her professional journey within our own family, proving that growth is always possible when you have the right support system.

  • Eunice Ngala (Waitress, Vipingo Ridge & Alumni, Tewa Vocational Training School) brought the house down. Her journey from student to staff member was a full-circle moment that perfectly illustrated the theme of "Give to Gain."

A Strong Community Presence

We were honored to be joined by distinguished guests who took time out of their Saturday to support the cause. Their presence underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration:

  • Jessica Karisa Riziki & Jackline Mbithe (Kijipwa Police Station)

  • Agnes Ungai (Ministry of Education, Kilifi County)

  • Constance Magaigwa (Assistant Chief, Vipingo location)

  • Everlyne Pahe, Stacy Ingasiani, and Beth Emily (Students, Tewa Training Center)

Seeing the young students from Tewa interact with established professionals was a powerful visual reminder of why we do this. They are the future, and they are watching, learning, and preparing to take the baton.

The Key Takeaway: Education Has No Expiration Date

While the discussions were varied, one key message echoed throughout the hall, delivered powerfully by Maureen Muasya from DTB branch manager Mombasa:

"Ladies, you can all be empowered through education. And it is never, ever too late to do so."

The statement resonated deeply. Whether it's formal university, vocational training, or simply learning a new skill on the job the path to empowerment is paved with knowledge. It was a call to action for everyone in the room to invest in themselves. Give time, energy and focus to education, and you will gain.

A Celebration to Remember

Of course, no Vipingo Ridge event is complete without a touch of warmth and hospitality. Between the serious discussions, guests enjoyed ample time to network, connect over refreshments, and enjoy light entertainment. It was wonderful to see the "gentlemen in the room" actively participating and supporting their colleagues a true partnership in progress.

The event concluded with a joyful cake cutting ceremony, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks. We expressed our deepest gratitude to the women who shared their truths, the partners (DTB and Madison Insurance) who made it possible, and the men who stood in solidarity.

Looking Ahead

As we left the Shariani Hall that afternoon, we carried with us a renewed sense of purpose. International Women’s Day is one day on the calendar, but the spirit of empowerment is a year round commitment.

At Vipingo Ridge, we remain dedicated to creating spaces where women can thrive, share their voices, and find their power. Here’s to the gains we make when we give of ourselves.
