Naom Top 10: Sunshine Development Golf Tour
Vipingo Ridge’s rising golf star, Naomi Wafula, continues to break golf boundaries and ceilings, this time on the new Sunshine Development Tour - East Africa Swing.
Following her strong performance at Thika Greens, though she did not make the cut, lessons were learnt in this new format of amateurs and pro golfers competing for Golf World Ranking Points. Thika Greens was the first event of the new tour.
Shining at Ruiru Sports Club
Naomi competed in the second leg of the series at Ruiru Sports Club from 9 to 11 June 2025 and came out with something to prove.
In a highly competitive field of elite male amateurs and professionals from across Africa, Naomi once again made her mark.
This time she was the only woman to make the cut, and finished as the top female golfer. With consistent rounds of 73, 73, and 72, she not only showed her skill but also her growing confidence and composure on the course.
Sunshine Development Tour attracting the top talent
Naomi teed off alongside top talents, including Kenya’s leading male amateur John Lejirma and Uganda’s Ronald Rugumayo, one of East Africa’s top professionals.
Reflecting on the event, Naomi described it as both inspiring and educational, a positive step forward in her ambition to play professionally on tour:
“I’m truly excited about this Development Your. It’s creating a strong and much needed pathway for players like me who are determined to take their game to the next level,” Naomi shared.
She also expressed gratitude to Vipingo Ridge for its world class training environment and facilities and to PGA Professional David Marsh for his ongoing mentorship.
As the Sunshine Development Tour calendar unfolds, Naomi is eager to continue testing her skills and building momentum. Her journey is just beginning, and we are proud to support her every step of the way.
