Africa’s only PGA Championship Baobab Golf Course at Vipingo Ridge came alive on Tuesday, 5th August, as it played host to the second leg of the Ladies Coast Open 2025, attracting an impressive 120 participants from across the region.

The tournament had kicked off earlier on Monday, 4th August, in Malindi before moving to Vipingo Ridge for its exciting second day. The Vipingo Ridge edition delivered a memorable showcase of talent, determination, and community spirit as the series continued.

Promoting Women’s Golf in Kenya

As one of the premier stops on the women’s golf calendar, the event celebrated not just competitive excellence but also the growing influence of women in the sport. Vipingo Ridge, renowned for championing female golfers and nurturing emerging talent, provided the perfect destination for this dynamic and inclusive tournament.

Competition was fierce across all divisions, with standout performances throughout the day. At the end of play, Mercy Nyanchama from Njoro Country Club was crowned overall winner, posting an impressive gross score of 78 to top the leaderboard. She has been on great form with a win at Malindi Golf Club the day before.

The tournament wasn’t just about golf; it was about connection, luxury, and nature.

Guests enjoyed Vipingo Ridge’s signature hospitality, with lunch and dinner served at the scenic Sundowner, followed by a DJ that brought everyone together in celebration. The ladies looked fabulous in the theme of the event, green and gold (or yellow). The combination of competitive sport, community, and lifestyle made the event not just a tournament, but an unforgettable experience.

Their contributions helped deliver a polished and inspiring event that raised the bar for women’s golf in the region.

Finally, special thanks to the Vipingo Ridge Golf Club Committee, and the Subcommitte for the event, Chaired by the wonderful Betty Bundotich. Our thanks also to the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) for convening the event, and we were honoured to joined by the Chair Rosemary Mkok.
